It’s sometimes said that charity websites can look depressingly similar (not ours, mind!). They can feel a bit worthy, like the online equivalent of a bowl of bran flakes; good for you, perhaps, but hardly something you’re looking forward to. Not so the new Body and Soul website lovingly crafted by Provokateur.

As websites go, Body and Soul was always going to be an ambitious project – after all, they’re ambitious people. The final site, however, is an impressive mix of design, function and content that immediately stands out and impresses the visitor.

Produced in Wordpress and incorporating a fat whack of video and animation, the site is immediately engaging. The slideshow format supports text, PDFs, videos and images, presenting a rich range of content to site visitors. Naturally, it’s seamlessly integrated with Facebook, Twitter and Just Giving.

You can see the site here. Please do – they’re a great organisation who now have a great website!

This week you might have seen a lot of coverage in the national press about the number of young kids being locked up. The reason why you're seeing this is because of a campaign Provokateur helped the Prison Reform Trust launch. Working closely with PRT, Provokateur created the name, branding and communications for the campaign.

Last year over 7,000 prison sentences were given to children. It might be the kind of thing that appeals to Daily Mail readers, but the evidence shows that prison should be the last resort. Far from preventing crime, locking up kids not only embeds social problems but fails to deal with the problem of young offenders.

The Prison Reform Trust asked Provokateur to help create an online campaign around this important issue and the result is a textbook piece of ecampaigning – creative, engaging and involving.

Provokateur was lucky to work with award winning photographer Ed Clarke who provided a library of incredibly powerful images for the site. These images, combined with key facts about juvenile detention, gave the website an immediate impact. Provokateur also helped set up Twitter and Facebook groups for the campaign, while building into the website a database tool that would allow visitors to locate and email their MPs.

What makes us proud is that the site combines creative punch with technical nous. This is an uncomfortable, even unpopular, issue to campaign on but the result is something that we hope is thought provoking – and effective.

Take a look at www.outoftrouble.org.uk

Provokateur has been working with the charity TB Alert on a new public awareness campaign about TB. The problem, you see, is that most problem think TB has gone away, or that it won’t effect them. The reality, however, is that TB remains a real problem affecting people from diverse communities, backgrounds and lifestyles.

The website for The Truth About TB campaign is a new initiative from the folk at TB Alert to find a clear, simple way of informing the public about the disease, challenging common misconceptions and ensuring people have the knowledge to recognise the symptons and know where to go if they’re worried.

The website was designed around the personal stories of TB patients, drawn from all walks of life. Using videos embedded within the site, visitors can find out about treatment. It’s also got some neat functionality, including a feature that allows you to find your nearest doctor based on your postcode information. Plans are also underway to create some clever widgets for partners in the health sector to use on their own sites… so watch this space.

And in the meantime, you can check out the site here: www.thetruthabouttb.org

Having worked with the Kofi Annan Foundation on their branding and communications, Provokateur is proud to have completed work on the second stage of the Foundation's website development.

The initial website that needed to be launched with the new brand but it was always the intention to create a more sophisticated and better developed site.

The new site amalgamates the vast amounts of content related to Mr Annan’s various activites, visits, speaking engagements and news articles in one place, providing a useful and engaging website for partner organsiations, journalists, media and the public.

Provokateur worked closely with the Foundation’s team in Geneva to ensure they well were all fully trained up and ready to manage the site themselves.

At 17.03 today, Provokateur pressed the button on The Elders website, re-launching the world wide web presence for this remarkable organistion, founded by Nelson Mandela and Graça Machel.

The Elders came to us in April with a call to help them improve and update their website. The site, built in Drupal open-source content management system, is the Elders’ primary way of reaching both the general public and the media so it really needed to have a clear and easily navigated structure as well as an enticing and eye-catching design. As you can imagine with 12 high profile members including Mary Robinson, Jimmy Carter and Kofi Annan, a lot of new content is added daily so the site needs to be easy to manage for the Elders communications team.

You can see the new improved website we’ve been sweating over at: www.theelders.org

Provokateur has been appointed by The Elders to help develop their online communications. It would ne no exaggeration to describe The Elders as one of the most remarkable organisations on the planet - although the word 'organisation' is a bit misleading.

It’s not an organisaion in a traditional sense so much as a group of eminent global leaders convened by Nelson Mandela and Graça Machel to bring their experience and independent voices to the resolution of conflict and to the alleviation of human suffering.

The opportunity to work for an organisation that includes within its company Nelson Mandela, Mary Robinson, Jimmy Carter, Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan and Aung San Suu Kyi is both thrilling and daunting. We’ll keep you posted.
